2025 Roland Garros Review

The 2025 French Open was wonderful. The men’s final was won by Carlos Alcaraz after a long, exciting match. He was down two sets, but fought back to save three championship points. It was the longest final French Open ever in history! I think Carlos is brave. Jannik Sinner played well too, and it was nice to see two young men in the final.

Novak Djokovic also played well. He won a lot of matches and made it to the semis again —although he’s a little older now. I was happy to see two Italian players (Sinner and Musetti) make it to the semifinals. That’s a sign that Italy has some talented players.

For the ladies, Coco Gauff took the first French Open. She competed well and beat Aryna Sabalenka. Additionally, there was a French player ranked 361, Loïs Boisson who reached the semifinals for the first time, and that was surprising. That was very special to France.

It was also the final French Open for Caroline Garcia and Richard Gasquet. They are great players, and I don’t like them to retire.

Most of all, Rafael Nadal said goodbye to this tournament. My favourite player is Nadal, I love Nadal very much. The king of clay, the greatest French Open player of all time. Am I a little sad that he will be entering the retired column as he leaves for new endeavors? Yes, I am. But I am cheering him on and grateful for the way he enriches our lives, in an age in which we are more in need of him than ever.
