2025 Australian Open Review

I loved the Australian Open 2025. And again, Jannik Sinner won the men’s final. He is a young man but very strong. It is incredible that he is the first under-30 to retain the title since 1993. Novak Djokovic might have won once more, but he was injured and had to drop out. And I thought some of the younger players like João Fonseca and Learner Tien were a big surprise force to beat some top players. Also advancing to the quarterfinals for Australia was Alex de Minaur.

For the women, Madison Keys picked up her first Grand Slam title. She played great, saved a match point and she ended up winning.” Did you know she took down both the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the same slam? I think that’s a tremendous accomplishment.” Arina Sabalenka attempted to win for a third time in a row but came up short. And I also enjoyed seeing Paula Badosa, who made the semifinals for the first time.

On the whole, it was an exciting tournament and we obviously have many young talents who are prepared to do well. I’m looking forward to the next Grand Slam already.
